Students finished the unit of Mechanical Systems and had a quiz on Monday. Students then began the Salt and Fresh Water Systems unit. Students looked at the importance of water in our world and the water cycle. There is no homework.

April 22nd - 26th

Students have been looking at the characteristics of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems. Students look at Pascals Law and how to calculate Pressure (pa). Students use this to calculate the mechanical advantage of a hydraulic system. Monday April. 29th students have a quiz on topics 4-6 of Mechanical Systems. They can complete the topic 4-6 review if they need extra practice. There is also a topic 4-6 revision guide under the Mechanical Systems section of the blog.

April 8th -18th

Students explored simple machines and the uses of simple machines in complex machines. They had to complete a Rube Goldberg cartoon which was due Monday, April. 15th.  Students then investigated Work, Mechanical Advantage, Speed Ratio, and Efficiency. Thursday April 18th they completed a topic 1-3 quiz.  Students will begin looking at Force and Pressure when they are back from the long weekend.  If students completed all in class work than there is no homework over the long weekend.

March 18th - 21st

Students finished the Cells and Systems unit by completing an assignment called "Designing Your Own Extraterrestrial". If the assignment is complete then there is no homework over the break! Project details can be found under the Cells and Systems section of the blog.

March 4th - 8th

This week students finished looking at topic 4-5 of the cells and systems unit. They will have a topic quiz Tuesday, March 12th. A study guide can be found on the Cells and Systems page of the blog. Students looked at the organization of life and completed a foldable. The foldable contained, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms. If the foldable was not completed in class it will be due Monday. Students began looking at the different organ systems in the body in which they will be taking this knowledge and using in their final project that they will be starting next week.
