October 22nd-25th

Students finished looking at the electromagnetic spectrum where they did an activity called Wavestown to assess their understanding. Students filled out self assessments with the activity and I recommend if they are not feeling confident to do extra revision from the textbook and to complete the topic review. We then went back to explore and compare the eyeballs of different animals. They have been working through an activity called Comparing Eyes. Students will have time to finish the activity this Monday and it will be due the following Monday, November 5th . If students were away or missed any of these activities it is their responsibility to get caught up and hand them as soon as they are able! Students can make alternative/reasonable due dates with me if absent.

October 15th-19th

This week students focused on exploring the electro magnetic spectrum. They began the week by creating a foldable on Light Color Vocabulary terms. After they finished they had to create and color a color wheel. Students then looked at the video NASA: Tour of the Electromagnetic Spectrum and filled out a worksheet for their notes. Students then had to research the use and dangers for each electromagnetic radiation they looked at Radio waves, Microwaves, Infrared waves, Visible light, Ultraviolet waves, X rays and Gamma rays. The last task of the week was to create a foldable on the Models of Light - Particle Model, Ray Model and Wave Model . For each section they needed to complete a definition, example and diagram

October 9th - 12th

Students finished topics 1-3 of  the Light and Optics unit and had a quiz.  Students then looked at the parts of the eye and how they function, view light, and work as a lens. Students had the opportunity to examine this further by completing a lab in which they got to dissect a cow eyeball in order to see the different parts of the eye. There is no homework this weekend.

October 1st - 4th

Students have finished topics 1-3 of Light and Optics and have their topic test Tuesday ( 8-5) or Wednesday ( 8-1 and 8-2). Any worksheets/labs/investigations we have done this week are now under the Light and Optics page. There is also a revision list of everything we have covered in topics 1-3. The cow eye dissection will not be next Thursday, sorry for any confession!
